Feel calm and confident as you help your child learn to cope with anxiety

You’ve noticed that your child is struggling with anxiety.

They’re feeling overwhelmed or avoiding situations that used to be okay.

You’re doing everything you can to help your child, but it’s just not working.

You Feel

Confused about what to do - nothing seems to work consistently to help them over the long-run.

Frustrated that your child continues to struggle with anxiety, despite your best efforts (and all the deep breathing tricks)

Sad about your child missing out on things that they used to enjoy.

You and I know that parenting an anxious child
is really HARD

Maybe this goes on in your home…

➡️ When your child feels anxious, they ask you the same questions again and again. You start to answer them, but as the questions continue (forever) you start to feel stuck and confused - are my answers actually helping them?

➡️ Your child needs to do things perfectly. You love that they strive to do well, but lately their perfectionism leads to feeling worried and overwhelmed. You get roped in to check to make sure things are perfect, but it doesn’t feel like this helps in the long-run.

➡️ Your child gets really nervous in certain situations (that friend’s sleepover they were excited about 2 weeks ago, but today it’s making them spin in worry).

  • It really feels like it’s too much, so you let them avoid

  • Or you push them to face it, and they end up feeling so anxious and upset (and then you feel horrible).

⁉️ You switch between these two approaches
and feel unsure + defeated.

The key to helping your child is in responding to their anxiety in a clear, calm, and consistent way.

The next time your child feels overwhelmed with anxiety,

imagine if you knew exactly how to respond.

Hi, I’m Dr. Eli

I am a psychologist (and mom of two), and I believe that when kids struggle with anxiety, it is inevitably a family affair.

Parents do not cause their children to feel anxious, but they do play a key role in whether this anxiety gets worse or improves over time.

💗 As a parent, I know how hard it is to think clearly and calmly when your child is suffering. I get that sometimes the only thing computing in your brain is: How can I make my child feel better RIGHT NOW?

🧠 As a licensed clinical psychologist, with over a decade of experience working in the trenches with families in private practice, I know the mindset changes AND specific skills that will help you confidently and effectively support your child in learning to navigate anxiety.

📝 The strategies + tools you’ll learn in this course are based on the SPACE program (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions), developed at Yale University by Dr. Lebowitz. I received formal training in SPACE with Dr. Lebowitz in 2020 and see how it transforms the lives of families with anxious children.

Research shows that when parents learn the tools from SPACE, their children experience less anxiety. Results show it is just as effective as the child receiving cognitive behavior therapy (CBT - the gold standard treatment for anxiety).

✅ This is for YOU if…

  • You are open to taking an honest look at how your responses to your child’s anxiety may be helpful or not so helpful.

  • You are ready to make thoughtful changes in your own behavior, not just looking to discuss possible future changes.

  • You are open to receiving support from others on your journey in supporting your child.

  • You can consistently join our live group calls (see schedule below).

  • Your child is approximately between the ages of 5 - 12.

  • Your child is experiencing some anxiety, but is able to attend school regularly and you do not have safety concerns.

Is Parenting Kids with Anxiety right for you?

🛑 This is NOT for you if…

  • You feel that the way you respond to your child’s anxiety is perfect. No need to change things.

  • You don’t feel ready to make changes in how you respond to your child’s anxiety

  • Your main goal is for your child to never experience anxiety (rather than helping them cope with anxiety that comes up).

  • Your schedule does not allow you to make it to our meetings consistently (see schedule below)

  • Your child is outside of the 5-12 age range.

  • Your child has severe anxiety, is unable to attend school regularly, and/or you have concerns about their safety. In this case, your family will benefit from therapy, rather than coaching.

FAQs

  • That’s right, this course is for parents of anxious children. Children spend most of their time with parents (vs. in traditional therapy, a child spends 50 minutes per week with a therapist). And when children feel nervous in their everyday lives, it is parents who have to think on their feet about what to say and what to do. So this course gives parents the specific tools needed to support their children in a way that helps the child learn to navigate anxiety effectively over the long run.

This parenting course is strongly based in the SPACE program, and cutting-edge research has shown that this parent-based program is just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy with the child.

  • Absolutely! During our group sessions we’ll have ample time to discuss how to apply the skills you’re learning to the specific challenges you face at home. However, you may think of new questions and want support outside of our group session time.

No worries, I’ve got you covered. Throughout the course, you can send me text or voice messages to get further individualized support. I will respond with a text or voice message via Voxer within one business day. This way, we can problem solve together between sessions so that you don’t have to wait until our next group session to continue moving forward with supporting your child.

  • This is a live, parent coaching group. This group is not therapy. Dr. Eli will not: conduct any assessment, provide diagnostic impressions, or discuss specific treatment recommendations. Coaching services are meant to uplift and support you, whereas therapy services are meant to diagnose and treat mental health disorders.

During individual and group coaching sessions, Dr. Eli will provide guidance and tips to help you feel calm and confident in supporting your child.

  • It’s normal for parents to have different views on the best way to handle their child’s anxiety. The important piece is that parents come to an agreement on how to respond to the challenges that come up, so that the child experiences consistent support.

If a child has regular contact with two caregivers, I recommend that both parents take the course if possible. This will allow for smooth implementation and maximum benefit for the child. The cost of the course is per family to encourage both parents to join if possible (2 adult caregivers may participate; additional caregivers beyond 2 would be an extra cost).

Of course, it is understandable that logistics and other factors may prevent both parents from participating. In this case, the parent who participates in the course should share all the materials with their co-parent.

  • This course helps parents learn effective, science-backed ways to respond to their child’s anxiety. If both parents are open-minded and willing to try these research-backed strategies, this course well help you work more collaboratively with your partner in supporting your child.

  • It is common for children with anxiety to experience challenges in other areas as well. If your child is also having trouble with depression, attention difficulties, OCD, autism-related concerns, this group may still be a good fit, so long as:

    1. Anxiety is currently a primary concern.

    2. Parent wants guidance on how to respond to their child’s anxiety-driven behaviors

    3. There are no safety concerns (e.g., risk to harm self or others)

If you have specific questions about this, feel free to send me a message: [email protected]

  • Maybe. This course focuses on giving you (the parent) the skills needed to help your child manage anxiety. As you probably know, OCD and anxiety often go hand-in-hand. If you feel that you primarily struggle with supporting your child when they feel worried or nervous, then this group is likely a good fit. If instead, your primary challenges are related to your child’s compulsive rituals or their intrusive thoughts, then this group is not a good fit because we will not be discussing these OCD-specific topics. In the future, I plan to run a specific course for parents of children with OCD. Make sure you’re signed up to my newsletter to stay up-to-date on that 😊 If you’re not sure if the program is unfit, please send me a message and we can chat.

Please keep in mind that Dr. Eli will not be providing any diagnostic impressions or treatment recommendations during the course. This is a parent coaching group that is focused on teaching specific skills, and supporting parents on the implementation of these skills. This course is not therapy for any specific diagnosis.

  • This group is appropriate for all parents with anxious children – regardless of whether their child is in therapy or not.

If your child is doing cognitive behavior therapy, this course will nicely complement the work your child is doing in session.

If your child is participating in a different kind of therapy then this course may not be in line with the work your child is doing in therapy, and that could be confusing.

In either case, it is a good idea to mention to your child’s therapist that you are beginning to take this online parenting course. You can share this website with them so that they have a good understanding of the skills you will be learning. If you would like me to have a brief call with your child’s therapist, we can arrange that.

  • Because this course is coaching (not therapy), it is open to all parents, regardless of where you live. As long as you have access to the internet and Zoom, you can join! 😊

  • This course will have a maximum of 5 families enrolled. Some families will have one parent join, and others may have 2 parents join. I’m intentionally keeping our group small and intimate because I believe there is great value in connecting with other parents who are experiencing similar challenges as you.

Parenting a child with anxiety can be a lonely experience, but my hope is that within this group you will find a community that understands you and is excited to support you.
